Physician rant

This rant comes from a physician.
Fuckin A. This sucks shit. I am workin my ass off here and I am here alone in this goddam office at 6:39pm. I am sure to be here later. WTF do people think physicians do, sit in our offices engaging in recreation? NO WE ARE WORKING! Please do me the favor dear colleagues of actually DOING YOUR WORK so I can do the stuff I suffered through 10 years of hell do be qualified to do. Frickin social workers and other staff members don't do shit. Don't even get me started on that one. I feel like I am the only one working around here.
And on to the patients. I am losing empathy. Some people you just can't help. Need to step back. Most of them are ok but a few really suck.

I work in ICU. I don't like most of my patients because they tend to be whiny and ignorant and unwilling to work at their own recovery. But the people I really, REALLY hate are the family members. Don't get up in Grandpa's face while he's on the ventilator and shake him violently while asking CAN YOU HEAR ME GRANDPA? ARE YOU SLEEPING?

I hate family members. They don't belong in the ICU. Ever.

I work for a medical answering service and I want to say this. Those of us that work for these services ARE Smart people. And I really don't appreciate getting yelled at by a Doctor who THINKS they're right but won't shut up for two mintues so I can explain why they were called.. or getting yelled at by a doctor that doesn't even understand something as simple as their own call schedule. Everyone knows how hard doctors work to become doctors. But you aren't the only group of people who work hard and do good for the world. Losing empathy for your patients? Thats every doctor these days.. Out of the 8000 doctors we answer for there is ONE out of the entire group that I could honestly say is a " good" doctor. He cares about his patients and he treats people with respect. I find it funny that you all work so hard to become doctors but THEN you do nothing but bitch about how hard it is and how tired you are and how annoying your patients are.. and being beligerant to your answering service just because you are getting bothered after hours for a patient that things they have an emergency. Get over yourselves. Your not the top of the world. All of us who pay you are. And your duty is to us.
